Title: How do you persuade the boss
Post by: Dave2 on April 06, 2018, 04:20:18 PM
Jayz/PFM/Frank:

Obviously you are more successful then me because you guys are better at persuading your respective bosses in accepting a deal (buy or sell).

This is an offer in trade for a property I am selling I received a few minutes ago ( Interested in trading it for a longhorn truck? ) but I will not pass on the comments I received from my boss.   Some issues with price but I will ignore them for purposes of this discussion.

My question to you smarter guys is how do you do it?

An effective solution but rather drastic and could be expensive.

Actually I thought the longhorn truck might have a place in Tax Sales

Get the longhorn cattle horn accessory for the front hood, wear a Stetson, cowboy boots and other suitable clothing
and carry a big wad of bills you know 2 hundred dollar bills surrounding monopoly money and scare everyone off.

Didn't get into the details but I believe relatively current vintage.   If I am not going to proceed with a purchase offer I don't want to raise buyers hopes unnecessarily.

I have done this long enough I should have a feeling by now if an offer is going to fly and my boss has say in everything I do.   She keeps the books and wants cash or equivalent (e.g. vendor takeback Seller's  mortgage if we sell a property.)

Of course it does make things easier with Revenue Canada although I don't like it when they take their entire tax cut right away even if I have only received partial payment in cash.

If you want something priceless how about a used boeing 727.    I just got offered one.    I don't why they approached me.   There are a lot of people more successful then me on tax sales.

The person who offered you the Boeing 727 may not think your tax sale trophy as valuable - somebody asked me 10 grand for a Boeing 727 last year, seriously.  :D

If they would let you cut it up for scrap, where it sits, could you make a profit?

Scrap does sell anymore. China is at trade war with the US so taking scrap no more.
