I thought Frank's profile picture was a picture of Bruce Willis. No?

I'd like to hear some thoughts on the Norfolk properties. A couple downtown Simcoe had no bids?

My understanding is you are only responsible for crown liens.

Thanks Jack. I knew about the church scenario, but it didn't apply to what I was looking at. Turned out it wasn't a good house anyway.

Mountainman, your comment here has nothing to do with my thread. Get your own thread.

Oh, I see you did. Payback is a bitch?

Thanks for that. Most of what I found dealt with landlord/tenant.

I still don't really know what it means. Is it possible the bank has taken the house and the owners still have the right to come up with the money they owe? I'm just looking for examples of what it could mean.

edit: Found it. There are 2 empty lots behind the house. When they build on those lots if they need some access to this property to do the build it has to be granted. An example was if they had to remove a section of fence to run service, they can do that and then they would remove the fence.

Not a tax sale. It's actually a real estate listing. In the legal description it says "subject to right of re-entry".

Something about that makes me uncomfortable. Can someone explain what it means? tia

Beautiful, but way out of my league. I'll sit back and watch what happens though.

That's a sweet looking one.

Oooooooh that's the old Legion. It's been vacant for years. Like 15 years.

I figured it would be. I was very interested in that one. My other half didn't like the idea of possibly having to evict a little old lady.

My family was part of that class action suit against Northstar. There was a settlement but they went bankrupt right after the first installment was paid out, so we never saw the rest of the money.

Cambridge recently sold the property and wrote of the $256,000 back taxes that were owing.

I looked at a similar property near Brant County. I think it had an old rundown house on it, but the property was very deep and there were 5 or 6 very nice houses that abutted the side of it. At the time I wondered if it could be severed into pieces and sold to those 5 or 6 property owners to make their lots bigger.

Couldn't edit my post.

I found a document that shows the property. It is the strip of trees between a house and a mall, but includes a larger stand of trees that run behind 4 houses and backs onto a park. There's a creek running through the property too.

Just me sleuthing. I know it doesn't really have anything to do with the original question.

Did you Google the address?

There is a small plaza with unit number 120. Next to the parking lot is a row of trees. Next to the trees is house number 114.

Seems a high minimum for a few trees.

This isn't the first time I've seen talk of a tax sale I've never seen listed. I usually check tri-target.

Do you have a link for the sale? It's local to me.

Buying a tax sale is really taking your chances. It would never occur to me to borrow money to buy one. I guess I figure if I have to borrow it, I can't afford to take the chance.
