Title: Notice of Impending Legislation - New Drinking Water source Protection rules
Post by: Dave2 on August 09, 2012, 01:43:01 AM
Was at a council meeting last night for a rezoning (got it) and while I was waiting for my turn at bat heard a presentation by local conservation authority on new source protection rules that will be implemented next year.

For tax sale buyers this sounds like bad news and I recommend that it become part of your legal checks. Depending on how this evolves I may recommend that if the property is in the primary zone that it not be bought.

This affects all of Ontario and I will use one local map that was in my rezoning area as an example.  (town of warkworth)

I have bought and sold tax sale land in this area.

Among the things noted last night.

a) The local municipality (trent hills) will require 1,764 studies to comply with the act.
b) Property owners maybe required to pay for them and government officials will have right of access on the property.

c) Most scary thing was that on each property turnover (e.g sale) a new study will be needed.
