Title: North Frontenac - Local indian land claims or not???
Post by: Dave2 on December 01, 2011, 06:38:53 PM
One of the strategies I try to avoid is hastle that I don't understand. Areas of  Native land claims are one of those issues I try to stay away from on general principle because I don't have the background to understand them and how it will affect me..

Thus for example I generally stay away from the Grand river from Dunnville to the 401 as a matter of general principle.

My memory is that there was some sort of land claim issue close to this area a couple of years ago but I don't know how close and if it is resolved.  It had to do with some mining claims and with the rewrite of the mining act and I am not certain if it is still an issue or not.

Before all of us do our research etc. it would be appreciated if anyone has an insight they would share it as none of us want to waste a lot of time.  This area is relatively remote in southern Ontario and going to the township will take time probably for everyone on the board particularly as we are not visiting summer cottages this time of year.
