Title: Co-Bidders
Post by: raylak on December 21, 2016, 10:06:25 AM
Dave,

Your last post gave me an idea about co-bidders. If anyone would like to co-bid, I'd be interested to meet up and discuss vision and possiblity of this. You can email me at itsray88@gmail.com. my record is I've bid about 22 times so far and have one tax sales property so basically looking for cheap stuff just like anyone here haha. Also willing to learn from pros so please contact.

Ray:

Co bid for me is very rare and this is the only time I used it this year.  In theory it sounds like a great idea but in practice difficult to implement. It was only used because someone called me up to wish me seasons greetings and we got into talking about the general lack of available bid opportunities except the Billings (Kagagwong) one.

Our problem with Billings was not with the buy but with the sell.  If you get it what do you do with it without investing significant dollars.   Obviously Mountainman is more dedicated then me and went up and took a look and found something.  Investing significant dollars within an hour or Toronto or Ottawa I can justify,  but not in this case which is a day trip up and a day trip back for me. He deserves every penny he makes as a result but my problem is it is the only game in town and anything close people are paying crazy prices anyways. (I have been stepped on like a bug many times this year.)

Even after you win it who do you sell it too.   In this case neither one of us was enthusiastic but with nothing else available we decided to throw in a joint bid in the hope that no one else was interested.  By splitting it we avoid the problem with our wives who have appropriate comments about why the heck are we spending money in the middle of nowhere.  (If you want to play this business honestly have your wife keep the books.)

Anyways not my problem and someone who thought they were really smart is probably going to find out how ruthless this business really is.  (No I am not going to explain that comment.)  See what happens to the shark in this video.  The winner is going to find out who are the true kings in this business.  Love to be a fly on the wall when they find out.

Happy holidays until we meet in combat in the new year.
