Title: Information packages
Post by: speedfreeksteve on May 27, 2006, 07:09:58 PM
It seems to me that it's a ton of research to find not only "where" to any particular property, but also the "what" (how big it is).

I'm assuming that the information package that I'm hearing about covers these. What I do want to know is:

How much are these usually?
Are they sent by snail mail, fax, email, or all of the above?
Can they usually be bought in person?
Is it one information package per property?

They cost from 7-8 dollars to 15 dollars.  They can purchased from the municipality and most offer credit card payments.  They will mail you the package (snail mail) or you can go in person to purchase a package.   They deal with only that one property, and they give you information on the boundaries of the property, taxes owed, etc..

This is not to be confused with a title search which would give you information on liens on the property.

When I  see property listed I usually email the municipality and they sent me the package no charge. The only one that I received so far was from South Bruce Peninsula where they include a bill for $10. I had the impression from what I read that the costs of the sale was added onto the taxes owing or comes out of the profits of the sale?

I have found a lot of information just looking around on the Internet and have found some good online services. Last week I received a Tender Package for one sale that I had to pay $10.  I was able to get more information just off the internet.  The question I was looking for was whether there was road access being that the listing said S 1/2 of N 1/2 of Lot **, there was roads that may be close but when I received the package Road Access said N/A and while other packages that I received had detailed Lot maps there where none for the the property that I was interested in only the Township map with lots and cons. which I got off the internet.
