Title: Is OTS Officially Irrelevant?
Post by: netpred on December 19, 2011, 11:56:07 PM
The title says it all. It is now several weeks with no featured properties on OTS. Nada, zilch, not a one.

There is nothing worse than being irrelevant. It is one thing to have unhappy clients or to have various service problems, but there can be nothing worse for OTS than to be irrelevant. I'm still waiting to see the news "coming soon" on featured properties.

It may still be a bit premature to bury the body, but it sure seems like the business model is failing. I don't like to gloat (actually I do) but OTS Jeff, I told you so. Your members and the municipalities vote with their feet.

I think your continuing ability to enjoy beer courtesy of Dave2 may cloud your judgement in time into believing in Santa Klaus(particularly after the 3rd one if you have a designated driver).  In case you haven't noticed it we are almost at Xmas and government slows down.  OTS or anyone can't post sales if there are none.

If you don't believe me look how many tax sales our hard working administer Rob has posted in the last couple of weeks.  (One of these days I hope to have the honour of buying him a beer, he really deserves it).

I think with the cold and snow which are usually around this time of year you have decided to stay before the fire; enjoy your free beer and let us poor hard working stiffs run around and do all the work for you.  Next thing you will want OTS Jeff to post all of the winning bids for free for all tax sales.

Just look outside and see the winter weather.  I call the gang that hangs out here a wolfpack.  At this time of year game like in nature game gets more scarce.  There will be game in the new year but I also believe you and I will have to watch our backside.

I think the true Alpha wolves of this board (like the guy with the gator) will also be out hunting and they will remind us of the importance to show respect to them.
Remember like in nature when a wolf meets a gator he doesn't dine on lunch, he becomes lunch.

Remember the song from the 1960's "slow down you move too fast ......".  Enjoy the holidays there will be good game in the new year (I am even willing to bet you on it but I don't promise I will always tell you until after the bid because getting it with a gator along with bigfoot and the rest of the wolf pack around is real tough work. )

Dave:

It is a slow time of year, but OTS has way way fewer featured properties this year. The numbers are less than 50% from last year by Jeff's own admission. You can read for yourself here:

http://taxsaleproperty.org/forum/index.php?topic=1884.msg7809#msg7809

So I'm still waiting for this big glut of featured properties.

So Dave, you see you cannot compare this site to Jeff's. This site is free. OTS is becoming less relevant and if the trend continues, it may be of no use to us at all.

The only thing that OTS offers are results. But these are generally offered on featured properties. So, do the math, no featured properties means no results.

One suggestion that I can offer to OTS is to expand the results. OTS has staff. It is easy for them to call the treasurer after a tax sale to get the results and post them. If OTS carried all of the results, it just might make some sense to renew a membership.Otherwise, bye bye.

The system is unfair. I suggest that you do not bid. In fact, I suggest that nobody here ever bid again to protest this unfairmess

Certainly I think your idea of free result posting is a good idea.

All of us regulars are in favour of less bidders however you can't have it both ways.  More featured properties means more bidders not less.

If tax sale opportunities are declining maybe you need to invest in something else.  How about something to keep you warm and awake "Bikini Baristas"

I believe you can buy the franchise rights for this chain in Canada.

Of course we would have to send a chaperon along when you did a site visit because I understand that there have been clothing problems with the uniform tops which allegedly some of the girls have been exposing more then is allowed for extra tips.  ;D

Any volunteers??

I'll volunteer: to either chaperone, drop my top, or tip extra. Perhaps all 3, but, being a member of the male persuasion, number 2 would only, perhaps, (I HOPE) intrigue the cougar  members of this group, and then only the cm's over 70.

This I gotta see.
