Wow! 60 Dollars for a tender package. I thought we were getting burned in Ottawa I think it was 35. Well I will watch this one like I did for Ottawa and wait to the last day. Looks like this is the upcoming trend, pay for the Tender Package. What a Scam! >:(

I wouldnt waste your time and money..this is a redemption ..and if it doesnt it will go way over market just like all the Power of sales in Oakville.

Thanks Pfm for your thoughts. My issue is why do some Municipality's charge 10 dollars(Niagara) 35(Ottawa) 60(Oakville) and I can download for free ie. Hamilton and some cottage Munciipality's. I have read some previous posts say that they should have some regulations. Anyone???

There already exists legislation which prevents Municipalities from recouping more than its costs by way of fees...obviously some see this as a gold mine.
The real operative here is that they do not have to provide these packages at all. Most do it to avoid the myriad of queries that will arise if they don't, and thereby save themselves a lot of time and dollars if they don't.
Finally, you don't have to buy their packages at all. You can do the research on your own and flood them with questions....but do you have time for the leg=work. Also, if the municipality indicates in their package that the land can be built on, then later the building department denies you a permit, you will have a good case. 8)

One must also try to keep in touch with reality..this isnt a 30 k deal this is 300 to 400k ..spend 60 dollars for info on a 3 or 400K deal...if you are coming any tax sale and not willing to blow 60 dollars ..stay home and buy 649 tickets. Every bid cost several hundred with titles and couriers etc etc 60 dollars is a drop in a very big bucket....of course all is mute as it will redeem

I agree. You have to spend money to make money but I find with places like this one if it is not redeemed someone will pay large for this home.

"Stay home and buy 649 Tickets" That is a little harsh don't you think. I know its takes money to this Title search etc. I have done it and have been successful. I guess you missed the point I was making. I just thought there should be a across the board price on tender packages. I know Oakville will get redeemed and I won't waste time or money on it. I thought this was a forum not to slam eachother. By the way I don't buy 649 tickets, but I might buy Lotto Max 50 Million this Friday.::)

Your point was well taken, and the short answer was of course...no. Municipalities are free to charge whatever they want...but you don't have to buy...your choice.
This forum provides a lot of useful information, and is also a place for us to try to have lite-hearted fun with each other...if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. I'm still waiting for the invite to enjoy some fishing and beer at Dave2's Manitoulin mansion.
Forget about the Lotto Max...I've got that one all wrapped up. 8)

sorry you took offence to what I said but I will be carefull next time not to offend anyone. But I agree with the across the board price but your dealing with government and anything is possible. Just look at the new HST!!!
