Title: Bancroft, improper notice of sale??
Post by: bobs on September 07, 2010, 12:35:00 AM
Could someone please clarify if I am wrong!

In the Aug 28 Gazette I noticed a sale in the town of Bancroft.  I did not look at the sale date closely as I was just starting my research.  I have since discovered that the sale date was advertised as July 16.  This makes no sense.

I had emailed the town asking for more info.  They sent me a package.  I emailed with more questions and received a reply on Sept  6 that the sale date was Sept 1 and the lot has been sold.

I then went into back issues of the Gazette and I connot find any other advertisements for a sale in Bancroft on Sept. 1.

Am I wrong or has this sale not been done properly?

The municipality have to advertize for at least 30 days in a local paper then 1 week in Ontario Gazette. Some municipalities will not even bother if they use OTS like they did in N Bruce P.

What day did you receive the package? If a mistake is made in Ontario Gazette, The package will be right. Surface mail cannot be trusted. Don't use email either. If you are really interested, it worth the drive and have picnic in the area. I submit my bid envelop directly to the right person and see to it that it is dated.

Does anyone actually know what the Bancroft property went for?

Surely someone on this board know what the bids were for this property?

This is something I would like to suggest to Rob, Can you create a  category on the forum for results. Would make searching old results easier and may inspire more results being posted

Surely someone on the board was there or contacted the township.  Please post results if you know them

Excellent suggestion. (Maybe we can put OTS out of business. Alternatively find out which of the people behind the monikers is named Jeff.  Just kidding)

Hopefully Rob will follow through.  One request as we have been down this road before; no winner names.
