We have had enough doom and gloom lately so I wondered if we should look at a new type of property for Tax Sale purchase. Anyone ever bought a mining claim at a Tax sale.
I am headed enroute the great (soon to be white) wilds of northern Ontario tomorrow and wondered if I should look at a different type of tax sale purchase. If I am lucky and bought a mining claim who knows if I might find gold. Might even allow me to be competitive with the successful membrers of this board with their yachts. Rumour has it that some of the boating accessories in skimpy bikinis are also real "golddiggers". ;D
Hopefully when I get back in a week someone will share their experiences and help us all get back to the serious business of getting weathly.

Good luck Dave2. Let me know if you get anything.

Be careful to confirm exactly what you are bidding on. Many properties in Northern Ontario have the ownership of the mineral rights separate from the surface rights. The registration of a parcel of land as a patented "mining claim" does not necessarily automatically confer mineral rights to the property owner. In situations where the property owner has not paid the applicable mining land taxes to the Ontario government (not uncommon in tax sales as the property owner is obvioulsy delinquent in property tax payments), the mineral rights may revert back to the Crown.
