>:( three properties in Georgian bay--two vacant and the other occupied by a canadian unemployed Indian living in a rundown trailer. Man 's father used to own most of the lands surrounding. Hard times--no money to pay the exorbitant high taxes--place is swamp and run down. The same for the Huntsville one river property. The problem in these cases is that AIPAC has assessed these properties as highly valuable water front properties. Both regulated'dangerous flooding and the lake front is owned by region Shameful-Whiteman's robbery.
If anyone is heartless--go ahead--kick the natives from their lands--Shame on both townships and AIPAC

Sounds to me like somebody has some serious interest in this property. I think that I will have a go-see myself.
Thanks for the tip.

The guy should have just sold...if that is the real story. For sure you shouldn't have talked to him. Read more about the subject of talking to the owners of tax sale properties as posted by many other members on this site.

Shameful-Whiteman's robbery.

I haven't looked at these properties. But what I think is shameful, is someone trying to dupe members of this board about a question of ethics for their own gain.
-
Gee ..It is shameful that we would toss the poor man out...all of you should be ashamed of yourselves ...I suggest none of you bid on these lands ;D
-
How about third property, that " aglly" Island ;), is anyone accupied there?
-
To a buddy of mine interested, The owner stated last week,he was approached by Caldwell Realistate and they are willing to give him $50,000 loan to pay off the taxes. Smells! So Soon, Surprised seeing that it has been removed from the sales.
Please note; When a man lives alone in a shack and is a senior canadian indian, no matter how much the value of the property is--I don't have the heart to force out the man. Never forget--it's there land. Just because the land is near water, does NOT make it right for government to gouch/steal.What services does the township offer to this resident? ZIP!
Lewisten NY. If a senior over 60 years living in his home for over many years--by towns law--no property increases until they sell. Shamefull--for anyone that considers ousting the poor onto the streets.

Les. It is one of the golden rules of tax sale junkies. Never never ever ever contact the owner.
Here is an earlier quote in regards to this matter and there are a lot more if you read past forums.

#1 Never, EVER approach the current owner or their immediate neighbours - that could jeapardize things in a number of ways
Almost every sale there is someone on here " I was talking to the neighbour..bla bla bla" I just wish I could hit people with baseball bats thru the internet
Don't talk to local real estate about the property. It's fine to talk to an agent, but don't spill the beans about a property that might go for cheap. They're the first ones that will buy it and flip it.. or tell their friends to buy it. They know the local market.
You might as well ask a Great White shark if the lagoon is safe to swim in.
Also here is a link to a thread on "talking to the owner".

Holy sh&t. I pretty well forgot about this thread. It does make for a compelling read, doesn't it.
btw, I see a current record of over 500 views in a day - up 500% over last year, but it seems that Frank, PFM and Dave2 have disappeared. Are the big boys still here?

I assume you are referring to my waist line which I agree could do with a reduction.
We are still out there but probably focussing on downstream issues of tax sale purchase:
PFM is probably by the beach in a warm climate on his boat enjoying his returns for the year. As this is a family oriented site I cannot post any pictures. ;)
8) This gentleman is also probably in a warm climate enjoying his well deserved gains incognito.
As a newcomer (I have only been on the site for a little over 2 years) I am still trying to get properties ready for sale or enjoyment. Unlike my bettors I have had to head north
to replenish the coffers so that is why I have been out of touch. The final part of the process always takes more time then you would like unless you want to give it away. Just because I bought at a tax sale price does not mean I want to sell it at a tax sale price.
With local council election time I take a leave from rezoning until the new council is in the chair and having to set their first budget. I have also been tied up trying to figure how I can get the house I can buy for a buck over the swing bridge at Hastings.

Dave:
Nice to hear from you.
Why not take the house up to Hwy 7 (stop at Ralph's Butcher Shop in Norwood to replenish your steaks & sausages) go along 7 and then back down again?
