This morning, over a 90 minute period, I've put some folks in touch with unclaimed funds, not only bank accounts, but also settlement monies, to the tune of $2200, more or less. Everyone ignores the unclaimed monies at their own peril. Here's the URL:

Apparently, banks can't find people who have been living at the same address for over 50 years! for example, they cannot locate Gina Lollabrigida and her husband, Dr Miko Sofic: Italy is such a large country!
As well, Canadian banks have never heard of Google and Canada411.ca; they are mystified as to how they go about finding people. However, if you owe THEM, look out.
I will also mention that you have to start immediately appealing your property tax assessment notice EVERY YEAR. In the last 12 months, we've had 2 properties reduced in assessed value: one by 35-40%, over the next 9 years (do the math), and the other to the tune of about $1280 for 2013, and also to continue on for years at the correct assessment value. Altogether, over the next 9 years, for just the last property, we're talking in excess of $12,000! Get the addresses of the properties they've used to compare to yours, do a drive-by, take a pill for the shock, and APPEAL. RIGHT NOW.

I agree with apealing but they must red flag you if you win and nail you the next year or two. One of my rental properties was assesed way above market value when I initially bought it. I appealed and after a lenghty battle and meetings with EMPAC,I won. Within two years, the assessmentI was right back up there and again I appealed and fought again and won. Within a few years later, it was right back up there. The monies and time fighting it in my case was not worth it as they just come back later and get ya. I just pay based on the inflated assessment even though it is assessed for about $140000. more then what I could ever sell it for. The MPAC is no different then bell, rogers, insurance companies and banks. They always seem to get you in the end.

Off topic a bit, but thanks for posting this. I have had a number of opportunities as well to help people with getting their money back from the Bank of Canada. If you all take a moment to click on the link, and type in your last name and see what comes up you might be surprised. Next type in the last names of everyone you know and see what pops up. Don't be afraid to do it, it's easy and it is free, and it is your/their money....the bank of Canada will release it if you file the proper paperwork. 8)

Ernest Bidder:
Deleted original post. Sorry about that but right now I am frustrated not at you but events which seem to be just in reach and evaporate like a mirage before your eyes.
Tried your excellent idea and to my surprise I got an interesting and rewarding hit with the name of a close relative. Only then to discover that it was not her but someone with the exact same name (first middle initial and last name) in the same part of the country.
Same feeling we all feel as the winning bidder with last minute post tax sale redemptions in tax sales prior to title registration of which there seems to be a lot lately.

God, Dave(2), gotta love ya! I'll bet I could put up a post about an Aardvark, and you're so all-bent-out-of-shape on the beer bets you've lost, you'd find a way to refer it back to another Netpred beer bet. What is it with the weak spot he keeps hitting? I volunteer to become your free "betting against Netpred" advisor: easy job! I just go against your decisions! Then I talk you into giving me 10% of your winnings.
Happy weekend to all.

I've had that website for a couple of years now. I never found anything for me, but did find about $12 for my nephew who had an old account for his paper route. I also found over $800 for a guy I work with. It was an account that his deceased mother had. They got the money back through her estate.
