Is it possible to locate the property using the description information, such as roll number, concession number, etc. I went to the North Kawartha website and all I got is the property description. They told me they have agreement with MPAC not to photocopy their map, so they can't send it to me. Without the directions, it will be hard to even take a look of the property. Thanks.

I agree they didn't make it as easy as they could have to find the information needed to make a good decision. I was able to find a really good map, though, on the county of Peterborough website, as opposed to the North Kawartha website. Here's the link to the map:
http://www.county.peterborough.on.ca/departments/index.php?sec=63
It's a dynamic map, which makes it easy to navigate and it includes everything including the legal descriptions needed to identify the area you're looking for. You need to download a plug-in to use the map, it's about 2 megabytes. Hope this helps!

I use ClaiMap (Ontario Mining Claim Map). It shows lot and Con for all townships in Ontario. Once you have the location pay attention to landmarks (streams, ponds, etc.). For topo, I use Toporama (Canada Digital Atlas), you can get maps for all Canada. Both maps are free to use, Dynamic, and on the net. Once you have location, and topograpics, I use Google maps to look at the vegetation.
Happy Hunting.

I checked out the ClaiMap site and it looks very useful. If you spring for a good road atlas of Ontario (you can usually pick them up for $25 at convenience stores or garage stations), you will find that they have lots and concessions on them as well - make sure you have a good magnifying glass.
