Post by: atorrin on February 18, 2007, 11:52:40 AM: This is my first time posting and I'm just new to the tax sales so if this information is not useful I apologize.

Out of interest I looked up the Goderich properties on mpac and got the following:

141 Huron Rd
Current Value Assessment $139,000
Year built: 1996
Full Storeys:1
Bedrooms: 4
Total Floor Area (Above Grade): 1026
Basement Area: 1089
Heat type: Forced Air
Lot frontage: 54.13
Lot depth: 121.56
Last valid sale date: 1994/04
Last valid sale amount: $23,000

97 Quebec St.
Current Value Assessment $136,000
Year built: 1870
Full Storeys:1
Partial Storeys:3
Bedrooms: 3
Total Floor Area (Above Grade): 1958
Basement Area: 360
Heat type: Forced Air
Lot frontage: 61
Lot depth: 104
Last valid sale date: 1986/11
Last valid sale amount: $50,500

I'm assuming these are the types of properties that usually get redeemed prior to the sale? Is it wise to wait before doing a title search etc. in case they are redeemed?

Don't apologize, you are bang on. Those two properties are prime candidates for redemption - usually last minute. I would definitely wait until a couple of days before the sale, and inquire at the town's tax office before doing anything. You will likely find that they are no longer for sale, and you will have saved yourself time and money.

I was looking at these and rcv'd package from the town .....shortly after I rcv'd a notice from the town that one was cancelled....I just don't recall which one.

Post by: Apex on March 15, 2007, 05:14:49 PM: Talked to someone at the town yesterday.The one on Huron Rd. has been redeemed. The one on Quebec St. was still available as of yesterday but probably will be redeemed since they have had discussions with lawyers about redeeming property.
