Title: Property History
Post by: talalyousuf on March 13, 2007, 03:43:36 AM
Hi there,

New to the game, just wondering if someone may have an answer for me... I was looking at a commercial building in Toronto (birchmount road) and went there to check it out - it was abandoned and probably needs to be torn down and re-started.. which would be quite the project. Anyway, there was junk all over the property and quite a few tires as well. Having read some of the posts here I know if the place used to be a tire yard it can be costly to do an environmental cleanup. Does anyone know how you would go about trying to figure out the history of the building and what it has been used for? It probably wasn't a tire yard since it would have been too small, and there was lots of junk there in general not just heaps of tires... but still a question in general I had.

You can call Township and ask if there is any info about this lot. Also talk to neighbors, they will tell you more than anyone...:)

You can also put in a call to the MOE, they may have some history on the property.  It may have been the subject of an order from them.

Ministry of the Environment.  They are the ones that monitor contaminated site and take steps to get them cleaned up.   Never heard of them - you must not be from Ontario.
