Does anyone know anything about the properties in Niagara Falls that just came up????
-
Go to this site, and you will get some base info. Three are vacant residential lots, and two have small dwellings on them.

If you go to the City's web-site, you can click on the roll numbers and get a location map to come up for each property.

Thanks Frank
I had read the info you suggested and found the maps before posting my question. I was wondering if anyone knew any details that weren't posted. I should have explained that a little better.
I, like many others, made the trip to look at that brick bungalow in niagara in late 2006. I collected a lot of info from the fire dept and the neighbours. I was wondering if anyone had the inside scope on these newly posted locations.

Hi,
I called the city, one of the properties has a GI zoning (General Industrial), the property on Ramsey Road. One of the houses is owner occupied, the one on McLeod Rd. The property on Simcoe Street is just 49 feet in depth, can't build a home on it, unless you want to buy the surrounding property. The property on Marshall Road is subject to a by-law that allows building of a house on a lot if the lot is at least 200 feet frontage and one acre in area(sort of like those rural estate areas), this lot is just 150 feet frontage, there's about 30 lots on that site that are affected by this by-law.
Has anyone seen any of the properties. I haven't been to take a look yet, would appreciate any more information than I got from the city.
Thanks,
Sasha

Thanks Sasha.. even though you made me feel not so good about most of the properties now. ;)
Does anyone have some info on lot sizes for the Ramsey Road and McLeod Rd properties?

Hi,
I may have made you, at least I didn't break you.
Ramsey Road property is zoned General Industrial (GI). Unless anyone of the houses are marijuana grow ops, I think the owners will probably come up with the money, if they don't then someone might get very lucky. I have the assessment values of all the properties, if anyone wants them.

One thing that I do know about Niagara is that the house prices are generally very low there. I know two factors come into play with that.. 1) most of the houses are VERY small 2) the quality in the construction of many of the older homes there is very low, among the worst in Southern Ontario I've been told in the past.
I might check them out this weekend just for something to do. If so I'll take some pictures.

Hi,
Sorry, didn't finish my post, will finish it now:
These are the minimum tender and assessment values for the Niagara properties:
Simcoe Street, Vacant lot, not deep enough to build on.
Minimum tender: $32,659.68 Assessment Value: $39,000.00
6043 Ramsey Road, Vacant lot, General Industrial Zoning
$28,974.61 $33,500.00
6441 McLeod Road, very small house on property, corner lot
$14,349.59 $103,000.00
3761 St. James Avenue, house on property
$19,905.56 $143,000.00
Marshall Road, Vacant lot, by-law prevents building on property
$17,916.17 $34,000.00
What I don't understand is that the minimum tender amounts aren't much less than the assessment values for all the vacant lots and unless the property is re-zoned for the Industrial lot or if the by-law is changed for the Marshall Road lot, then we can't build on it. The minimum bids for the properties with houses on them are much less than the assessment values, I know the fact that there is a house raises the assessment value considerably; although the houses are small and very old.
