Title: Alnwick-Haldimand

Does anyone seen the property in Alnwick-Haldimand.  I am planning to go there on weekend but if anyone can tell me what to expect, it will save me a trip.

I have not yet gone to visit the property, although I have spoken to Rosemarie Cromlish who is the tax collector for the municipality and is specifically dealing with these tax sales. She was very helpful although I am not sure she was completely informed regarding the information she gave me.

The main property that is drawing the most interest is the cottage on Margarets Island. I was told that the cottage is on an island by itself, however I do not believe this is the case due to the water frontage of the property and the size of the lot (there was limited water frontage on an 8 acre lot; it should be of greater frontage if it were an island by itself). Like I said I have yet to visit the site to verify this, so please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. She also explained to me that the by-laws for the property stated that an additional structure could not be built on the property, although the existing structure could be redeveloped or upgraded/maintained. She was not sure if the properrty included hydro, septic, or a well, and was also unsure if the by-laws permitted these to be developed.

Any word on the two mainland parcels on Lot 18 Con 6?

Are they developed?, or is it possible to build on?

All of the lots for tax sale are owned by the same individual, including the cottage property. The lots are located adjacent to the island, however they are to small to build on (approx 20 feet of frontage). The one lot has a boathouse/dock on the property. It is my understanding that the owner would use these lots to store boats and vehicles to transport items to and from the cottage on the island. Unless you plan on using these lots for a similar purpose they are useless.

I went to see this property on the weekend.

I have to agree with Pawel, I do not believe this property is an island on its own. Having driven right to the end of McKracken Road, as directed by Rosemarie Cromlish, there are no visible 8 acre islands in sight as I was led to believe. There is however what appears to be a massive island directly across the water. I had to assume the property was on this island as there were no other islands that were anywhere near 8 acres in size.

While driving along the small road I noticed many 'Private Property' signs along the shore line. It was very apparent that people have had problems in the past with trespassing. I could not determine where the other tax sale properties (ie boat houses) were located.

Overall, it was pretty dissapointing to drive all the way out there and not really get any answers. I can't give a lot of detail about this property as I really didn't know where it was!

I went to look at the island property, does anyone know specifically if there was actually a cottage on the property. I did not see one.
