Title: Question about a lien from Canada Revenue Agency
Post by: lokita on August 23, 2007, 04:39:06 AM
Is a lien against the property from the Canada Revenue Agency considered a crown lien or is this a lien that is erased as well? Is this lien put on the house because of back taxes or because of income taxes? There are two liens on this property, one for $235,000 (which seems too high to be just back taxes!!) and one for $32,000. Thanx for the help.

Usually the backtaxes come as one amount.  If you are really interested in the property do a title search.  Judging by just the facts you gave it does sound like a lien, and the Canadian Revenue Agency is a crown corporation but the back taxes on the property are a municipal issue.  If the person who owns the property had an issue with personal taxes I could see a lien being placed on the property.

Thank you, I did do a title search and the two liens from the CCRA are for income taxes, so if its a crown corporation, that probably means that they won't get wiped out, right?
