Hi, can someone please offer insight on how to decipher the terminology commonly found in the tax sale listings?
For example:
Part Lot 15, East side of Flora Street, Plan 43, City of St. Thomas,
County of Elgin, as in E367101, being the whole of PIN 35177-0007 and
known municipally as 93 Flora Street, St. Thomas, Ontario.
Sorry in advance if this question has been asked before.

You are in luck on this one. They gave you the municipal address so you can do a drive-by on 93 Flora. If you think it is worth pursuing then go to the registry office and pay $8 for a search on the PIN number. This will provide you with all the info. you require in terms of the legal description, any money owing, and a reference to the plan and lot so that you can look up the sudivision plan to see the exact size of the property through the survey plan for it.
This will not tell you if in fact the house was built on the right place on the lot relative to it's boundaries - you need to try to determine this by looking at it in the field. However, if there is a law suit with a neighbour ongoing due to encroachments, etc.. it may be on title, or as a personal writ with the sherrif's office.
good luck
