Hey Guys,
few months back I was watching TV american channel, some guy talked about Foreclosure propreties and tax lien certificates,
after seeing that ad. I started researching about properties in Canada, could not quite understand how to search,
Finally ended up here at this site, and found few other sites too.
my qn is : some sites are selling ebook , newsletters about these properties on sale and some more info about tax sale , and how to buy etc etc.
is this a good investment to subscribe to those newsletters and or buy info ?
OR these info avail in public over the Internet
IF so can someone direct me, I see that in the forum some Canadian properties listed....
Is there any formal Training available ?
Vijay
my email : viva_int@yahoo.ca
Note: I am very interested and need to learn and would like to invest.

The books , newsletters etc are all SCAMS and all they are doing is giving you the same listings you have for free on here. They have absolutely nothing that cant be found for free.
The only one that isnt a scam is ontariotaxsales.ca which you will want to join later ( when you are ready to make you first bid) They dont have any additional listings then here however they offer cheap and very detailed title searches and execution searches. Their packages cost way less then half of a lawyers and are probably more detailed as they include surveys ( if available) deed documents and complete summarys which advise if there is any title problems that will remain after the tax sale. They also are insured incase they make an error. Good luck collecting off a lawyer if he screws up the title search.
Browse the old forums on here and you will find a ton of info regarding process, legal matters, upsides, downsides etc. All from real people who actually buy and sell this stuff. Newsletters etc are all written by "experts " who are only experts at scooping your money for public information.

WELCOME..... the best thing to do is to read all the posts. They are full of jewels of info. But remember what Frank said is that most of the stuff out there is crap. Only occasionally does something good come along that doesn't get redeemed. After that its you and 30 other people are bidding on it. So have fun but its no get rich quick scheme.

This is not very encouraging. Do you want us, the new ones, run away?
Yet, how come nobody had anything to say about Hastings Highlands?

Im not sure what you mean by that. New users are always welcome. If you are referring to "this is not a get rich quick scheme" , It isnt. No one is getting rich doing this, But you might see reasonable returns or might get a nice piece for your own use cheap. Alot of the stuff you can get is long term holds. You arent getting a 400k house for 50 K and flipping it next week. Go get a lottery ticket instead
In regards to Hastings, If noone is talking about it it means that some people on here are interested and will be bidding. You cant actually expect people on here to simply give you all the info and then help you bid against us. If you are interested in something in hastings, you have to do the work and research yourself. If you have a question you cant figure out or comments please post them and someone will help. No one is going to tell you if the title is clear, They may tell you if the title is bad , or if its a brownfield but that is only after they have decided they wont be bidding.
If you drive up and look at the land, Toss up some pictures, save me the drive. But if you discover there is a gold mine on the property. you keep that to yourself and try to win the deal ( well you should tell me but noone else, it will just be our little secret , you can trust me ;D)

Good morning !
Well, thank you. I feel much better. I don't want to get rich, but this seems fun, and I want eventually to get a good place where to build my cottage.
My question about Hastings Highlands was about the whole definition of the land, I could not quite understand the "right of way over parts 9 and 10". But that's OK, I asked the city.
I do not think I am going to drive to St. Peter Lake, it's very far for me.
How can I get a tender package for the land in LImerick without driving there?
I read a lot from this forum, some subjects are very complicated, I do not know too much about the land and the law, but I am trying hard.

ps. You can trust me as well, please let me know if you find a gold mine --- oil or gas wells would be nice too. But tell no one else..... 8)
