Title: Bobcaygeon
Post by: Pawel on October 15, 2008, 09:18:15 PM
Just thought I would also share my visit to Bobcaygeon: Very nice Town. Alot of tourists near the Locks; nice view. Random observation - alot of stray cats in the Town.
The tax sale is landlocked, and I have yet to get a word from the municipality if the unopened road allowance will be lifted at any time in the near future. Near the tax sale there are some new bungalows being constructed, and what seems to be a vacent build site of a 3-storey condo near the locks. Not sure what went wrong with that development, maybe a failure to secure financing. I tried to walk in to see the site but I was not sure if I found the exact location - all forested land. This sale may be one worth its value if you are willing to wait for the road to be opened up.

Pawel:

My concern on this particular area is its low height right on the water table.  Did you see the dyke?
(about 6 feet high).  I figure as a result you need to plan on a lot of fill

On the other hand it will be easy to get water for your outdoor pool.  At least I could float my rubber ducky.

Is there something wrong with me, I can't even find the listing for a Bobcaygeon property.  Might be able to help if I could find it, as I know the area fairly well.

Quikcar:

Hopefully these URL's will help:

Go to Municipality of Kawartha Lakes website:

http://www.city.kawarthalakes.on.ca/CityHall/TaxSales/index.htm

Specific listing you are looking for is:

http://www.city.kawarthalakes.on.ca/CityHall/TaxSales/docs/028_00107900.pdf

Kawartha llakes obviously likes to sell several properties at once.

I had same problem last summer with Limerick in spite of the fact my mothers maiden name is Maguire.

Hope this helps

Thanx Dave, since this is coming up soon, I'm just relying on my memory (which is continually getting worse), I have to agree with the concerns that were posted here.  I thought it was closer to front street and the water.  I'm going to make a call to someone that I know down there, if I can reach him, I might have a little more for you.
That is a pretty extensive list.  I don't recall seeing this on the emails that I get from OntarioTaxSales.com.  Wonder how a list that size was missed, or my eyesight is failing as well.
Thanx for your help in finding this info, I'll let you know if I get more info.

Dave, I'm sorry, my contact down there is going to be away for the next few weeks, so my source for local info is out of commission, wish I could have been more help.  Thanx for the info about the way Kawartha Lakes presents their tax sale properties. Much appreciated, hopefully I can return the favour.
