Happy New Year, everyone.
Just noticed over at Tritarget, that both properties in the West Lincoln sale SOLD (not redeemed like so many have been of late) and for just a little over Minimum no less !
May be a good portent -- one can dream, LOL.

Nice to know there are other people checking in, from time to time; Dave2 must be in the south seas, by now. The board is a lonely place, these days. Thank god for the idiots posting advertising drivel, although I really wish someone could explain their (posters) point to me.

Ernie....not as lonely as you think....Dave is digging for gold on some island, and the rest of us are waiting for him to return so we can make fun of him, and get him to buy the beer with his loot.
Daddy....don't count your chickens, I think you will see more redemptions than ever before in the next few years. New two year rule will ensure that holds true, There will be much more nothing for us to talk about, and the hill-billy will chirp in with more nonsense than ever before.
Happy hunting, and be wary of properties that are not readily identifiable...such as one now up for sale with a double address, if you bid on the wrong one you will come up very short. Cool

Speaking of sanity, or the lack thereof, maybe Frank can enlighten us about how a municipality (namely St.Catharines) can justify their latest offering of 15 Yale Cres, the former recycling plant that went belly up in '07. Currently asking minimum $966k.
Last offered in '14 for $565k.
They paid "$113,300 to hire a Toronto environmental company to deal with a fire-trap factory abandoned by its owners" in 2012. And from the same article in the St.Catharines Standard - "City treasurer Shelley Chemnitz said the city tried to sell the property for unpaid taxes in December 2009, but there were no bids. The city had the option of taking ownership at that time, but decided that was too risky."
The MOE fined the defunct company (in absentia) $100k in 2009.
Of course none of the money spent on this property in the last 10 years has been (or ever will be) recovered from the previous owners because they disappeared into the woodwork long, long ago.
So who is actually on the hook for all this "sanity" (other than the taxpayers) ?
Is this what passes for normal (nevermind competence) in our Canada in 2018 ? Or the world for that matter ?
Just sayin ...

Lara's Daddy.......who can spell PLASTIMET.....recycling company in Hamilton....big fire....huge costs to clean up by MOE placed on top of tax account. Tax sale, but no buyers, now a Municipal park. All kinds of stuff can get added to the tax account. 8)

btw Frank, was that double address you mentioned upthread 203/207/209 Grand Ave ?
-
No.....one in Gravenhurst that got cancelled.....two properties with same address, but one was Unit 1, and one Unit 2....very difficult to distinguish which one you'd be bidding on. 8)

Actually Dave2 is taking advantage of this mid winter weather and rationaling a lot of my old paperwork which I have a lot of.
