Title: I won a lanark Highlands property
Post by: worldjohn on July 31, 2021, 09:41:56 PM
After 9 failed bids in a row I finally won one.  I did it by blindly bidding on a property I thought no one else would want, a 5 acre triangular lot on a trail, assessed at $44,000 with a minimum bid of 8000.  I bid a couple thousand above minimum. I was hoping other would bid just above the minimum or that people would bid on the better properties and forget this one. Well I got my wish of no other bidders but now Im worried why no other bidders?  did I just get lucky or do other people know something about this land that I dont know? I will try and go see it this week but I figure with real estate prices the way they are now, I cant go wrong getting any land for 10,000.  we will see

my concern was that the trail might have been on private property but apparently it is partly on a road allowance and the rest of the trail is on the boundary between lanark and frontenac counties. so access looks legal.  I put a quick ad on kijiji and already I have a solid offer of 20,000$ giving me a quick 10,000 profit.  now I am wondering whether I should take the quick 10k (which I dont really need right now) or wait put a yurt on it and sell it for 100k instead. any advice?
Also this buyer really wants cheap land in this area so if any of the other winners want to sell they can pm me and I can connect you.
