If anybody is interested, I went and looked at what was available in Brock.

My conclusion was that I'm not interested in anything there, but if I was, it would be file # 09-17, as it's the only piece that I believe that I might be able to use as a building lot. It's zoned EP but there is a clearing at the south west corner that I believe would be big enough to build a house on and meet all of the setback requirements. It does however have a lot of old steel 45 gallon drums laying around. I don't know what was in them and I don't know what's under the snow, so buyer beware.

There is also some old farm implements laying around which I assume would by default become the property of the new owner, after the sale. If somebody here is the successful purchaser and wants to get rid of it, there is one piece that I'd be interested in.

The holding for a year is if you want to declare it as your personal residence and sell it without paying capital gains tax

Can you provide a tax ruling that supports that assumption?
I always had the understanding that every situation is unique and will be judged on it's own merits.
In other words, it is possible to buy and sell a house in a lot less time frame as a year and still have it declared as a principal residence. Likewise you could still own a house for more than a year and CCRA will still balk at allowing a principal residence designation.

You have to check the original Crown Patent for the concession lot to see if the shore road allowance was reserved.  I've seen some lakes where only part of the shore has road allowance because it was reserved on some but not all of the lots on the lake.

Then the shoreline road allowance would not of had to originally been patented.

Unless I'm wrong, which I very well might be and hence I'm asking for help.

Is there anybody that knows how to determine which lakes in Ontario have (or had) a shoreline road allowance?

Is it any lake that is big enough to put a boat into?

Oh, I almost forgot to mention...does anyone know a good place to start when applying for re-assessment of a property?

If what you're asking is how to have a piece of land that currently has a building reclassified as vacant land, I would think that you would need to apply for a demolition permit. Once completed, you would by default have vacant land.
