Clean up the outside of the house first...so that it looks lived in.   Put on some drapes that prevent easy viewiing into the house...but don't black it out!

Buy the neighbour a few cases of beer and tell him to call you if he sees anything suspicious...but don't tell him your schedule!

Don't leave any loose tools or fixtures or supplies in the house when you are not there!   No dumpsters outfront either when you are not there.

I briefly glanced at these properties...wouldn't the "h" mean it is hazardous land....makes sence regarding the comment about most of the land being eroded away.    Maybe you could setup a toll for people crossing your property along the river....LOL   Just kidding!

Would it be possible to setup a corporation and buy the properties through a corporation?    Wouldn't this have some safety aspect to it also?

A good boat is definately an asset...and a place to keep it that is less than 1km away.   You'd probably notice that the water access properties are occupied far less than road access....ie no one really goes there.   I'd think they would be a lot cheaper...but also very hard to sell.

Good sight.   The maps you can get through the counties are also quite informative in regards to topo.
