Has anybody out there ever been able to get a tax sale property in Alberta? Every one I check out is off the auction block before I ever get a chance to even try to bid.

I agree this is a great resource. Right now is quite busy for me with all the new Alberta listings I am busy locating some and hoping they stay on the block so I can get some auction experience under my belt. The last batch of listings that were anywhere close to me disappeared on me before they went auction.

They were Alberta properties in Okotoks. They coming up for Auction October 13. I was all excited thinking I might be able to find a house for decent price in this crazy market out here. Anyway the representative from Okotoks told me that the last property on the list is gone now the mortgage companies picked up all three properties. I guess that is one way the banks are making money.

I just was informed by a town treasurer that the properties that were going to auction have already been picked up by the mortgage company . How often does that happen and how many of the listed properties actually get to bid or auction. You often see listings in an area that have 6 or more properties do only one or two make it?

Yes it is difficult to pinpoint most locations in Alberta. Some municipality websites have a legal desription map which really helps. I have had a hard time finding rural desriptions, I read something about being able to do through Google maps but I couldn't make it work. I am pretty new at this so I am still learning.

I am new at this so are there other cost aside from your winning bid amount that may have to be paid by you on these properties?
Is there a chance that a contractor might come after you for unpaid bills by the former owner or a mortgage company would want the mortgage payments? If anyone can let me know it would be appreciated.
