As predicted, redeemed this morning.

Gee:  Way too early if they want to increase local tourist trade.  If they waited until last minute (for effect just as bids are being opened) they could have had all sorts of visitors.  Might of even had a bunch of overnight stay traffic with all the lake effect snow.  

They have to get it down to a science like Trent Hills does.  At least one property to die for along with all of the usual checkerboard garbage.  Like a rock concert that uses warmup bands before the main act.  Redeem it at last second for effect.  In that case 15 -20 bids way too low.  I mean with a little promotion why not go for a 100.  

 On a serious note that's the way it is.  You have to wait until the last minute with these and then hastle your buns and hope it is not for vain.  You do get surprised though.  I remember one in Brighton for an occupied dwelling with a big mortgage a couple of years ago.  The thing that surprised me was the mortgage company did not step up the plate and as a result lost their mortgage rights.  I put in a half hearted bid which of course lostbut still have not learned to be tough enough to evict little old ladies .

Back to islands for a second.  As I have 2 properties (and a bunch more) I will have to get rid of at least one.   Next summer when reconstruction of the bonus cottage I got is done on one I get serious and turn it over to the professionals.  Some one can always PM me and see if I am in a Santa or Grinch mood in interim but doen't expect that I will selling it at firesale prices.

It's quite likely the municipality did a planning/building department check of all properties, probably sending out a crew of students to take pictures of each, then check their data bases to see if there has been anything built without a permit, and double check against MPAC to make sure that everything is assessed...they have to do this since MPAC doesn't do this type of field work anymore...case in point, in 2000 they found an entire subdivision that had been there for five years and not assessed - somebody was asleep.  Likely they will keep this info. on file and do another check in 10 years.  Most municipalities do this with arial photos nowadays...MNR uses arials to check for any shoreline changes...illegal docks, etc.. 

Just out of curiosity, how could OTS possibly have real pictures from 2005?

Those pics would have been supplied by the Municipality.  Some municipalities use OTS to distribute their packages....that is the case when they are available on-line from OTS. 

Guess municipalities are prepared to tax-sell each every private property some time down the road.
