Address locating

This is more about address information, than the sale. Having read the disclaimer, sounds like everything carries forward, so more interested in how to find where it is.
The Dec 29 issue of the Gazette has a Sheriff's sale in the Archipelago, the address; PIN 52185-0685 (LT) BEING LT 54 PCL 197; THE ARCHIPELAGO, DISTRICT OF PARRY SOUND. Thing is the Archipelago doesn't use PIN numbers for their online parcel system, and the apparent legal description doesn't translate into anything either. There are almost no Lot Concessions used in the township. If I blindly plug in LT 54 a single parcel comes up, but nothing to do with PCL 197 associated with it.
The majority of tax sales include a PIN and Roll number, but Sheriff's sales appear to use the PIN number exclusively. I've tried to find a way to lookup PIN numbers, but I always come back to Teranet (pay for use), which refers me to Ontario Parcel, which doesn't appear to have a public portal. Actually I just mostly get Microsoft server errors. There are other commercial services promoting PIN lookup, but I don't like the idea of paying just find the property.
So my question after all this is, how do you locate one of these properties with PIN only? (for free)

David,
Good News! After reading your post, I had a couple minutes left before lunch break was over and did a little bit of digging through our records for you. I took a look at some of our old tax sales in The Archipelago, there was actually a previous tax sale only 5 properties away from the one you are speaking about with respect to this sheriffs sale.
Check this link - The very bottom property of the listings that this link will bring you to is the property I am speaking of, 5 above that is the one you are interested in as per your post. Unfortunately it is not included in this image, though, i am sure this will assist you in identifying the property in question.
Try looking into Isabelle Island - B717 Island, i believe the Lot Number is 54. and here is a roll number I am almost positive is related to the property (49 05 100 006 07853 0000), though, you would need to confirm this information with the municipality or by other means. Also, here are some coordinates that are the approximate property location. 45.29705, -80.07394
This is the link to google maps with coordinates pre-entered -
https://maps.google.ca/maps?q=45.29705,+-80.07394&hl=en&ll=45.296815,-80.074325&spn=0.006385,0.016512&sll=49.303974,-84.738438&sspn=24.301858,67.631836&t=h&z=17
As for getting this information for free, I am not sure i can recommend anything of the top of my head, but, you can send our team @ Tri-Target an email, if we can assist we will, customer service is always free!
Hope this helps David!

Jayson, many thanks for that information.
Fairly round about way of decoding the PIN to a physical location. Following your logic, yes, parcel or lot 54 on B717.
Now for something completely different, but still related. This same property is listed on MLS as 490510000607853, for a new price of $180K, down from $200K. I'm still watching for my nearly ideal Georgian Bay property.
So, anyone chime in here, how does this work, a property that is on the market is also held by the Sheriff for auction. Is that possible?

It wouldnt be so bad , if you would be able to get a general idea of were the property is , before you start throwing money out the window

Ok after some heady reading (ouch):
http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/html/statutes/english/elaws_statutes_90e24_e.htm#BK17
I'm concluding that this is the classic "If Executable" that appears on many property titles in tax sales. The difference being that the "execution creditor" is the CRA (crown), and has the clout to mark it happen. As apposed to some small business that would have to wait for a sale to get its share. Being a crown writ it would carry forward on the title, and the new owner would still be facing a Sheriff's auction. Unless the "execution debtor" uses the proceeds of the sale to pay the debt before the deadline or I guess the Sheriff seizes the funds.
I have I got this right?
