Nothing earth-shattering, but this does seem extremely odd (bordering on illegal).

Anyone care to comment on how/why a property can be listed by an agent (for $429k) and offered by the muni in 32 days for $106

Answer is simple:  Try to kill a bird with two stones

Have they sold it....no.

Have they paid their taxes....no. 

Expect redemption, especially if they don't get a sufficient bid at the tax sale.  It's likely yours for $300k on the sale, but what could you do with it is the question, they have owned it for at least four years with nothing to show, except out of pocket for original purchase plus Environmentals.

Thanx guys, and yes Frank I realize the apparent multi-prong approach to unloading this white elephant, but what I was getting at was whether there was some obscure inverse conflict-of-interest happening here or just normal human ineptitude.

Not necessarily inept.  If you had a property that you couldn't do anything with (obviously thought you could originally), and you wanted to unload it for top dollars, then don't pay your taxes for a few years, and at the same time as the tax sale is gong on list it for a high figure...people will bid 80% of that figure at a tax sales on the assumption that the real estate agent knows what he is doing.  If you don't get your price on the tax sale then do the big redemption, and no one is the wiser,,,,leave it listed and see what comes along.

For anyone interested.  Was just surfing, looking up tax sales, didn't know this thread existed.

The image is a capture from Google Street View, 2009 image.

Continuing west from there are several retirement/senior homes.  Maybe this is the original home, and the operator spun it off, when the new ones were built.  The Tri-target image shows Gable (?) roofing on the west side, and this image shows one whole building is missing and the remnants of those roofs.

Anyway thought someone might find it useful.
