This morning, over a 90 minute period, I've put some folks in touch with unclaimed funds, not only bank accounts, but also settlement monies, to the tune of $2200, more or less. Everyone ignores the unclaimed monies at their own peril. Here's the URL:http://ucbswww.bank-banque-canada.ca/scripts/query_english.cfm?StartRow=21&EndRow=40&pagenumber=1&CiRestriction=colborne&CiScope=All Apparently, banks can't find people who have been living at the same address for over 50 years! for example, they cannot locate Gina Lollabrigida and her husband, Dr Miko Sofic: Italy is such a large country! As well, Canadian banks have never heard of Google and Canada411.ca; they are mystified as to how they go about finding people. However, if you owe THEM, look out. I will also mention that you have to start immediately appealing your property tax assessment notice EVERY YEAR. In the last 12 months, we've had 2 properties reduced in assessed value: one by 35-40%, over the next 9 years (do the math), and the other to the tune of about $1280 for 2013, and also to continue on for years at the correct assessment value. Altogether, over the next 9 years, for just the last property, we're talking in excess of $12,000! Get the addresses of the properties they've used to compare to yours, do a drive-by, take a pill for the shock, and APPEAL. RIGHT NOW.
