I thought peeps were getting carried away with karma and it got disabled. I've never been able to see the icons.

As a result of past "Karma Wars". Rob made changes that require members to attain a certain level of posts before they can give karma. I think that the level is 25. In the past, members with no posts were throwing around negative karma like there was no tomorrow. I suspect that this is one reason why one of our most respected and senior members (PFM) no longer posts here - he probably got tired of people dumping on him all of the time. Moral of the story - be sure before giving negative karma because you may lose what you have here.

  I don't know what pjdd and Paris_wendy did to garner smites, but I read all new posts every day, and have seen naught negative from either, so have added an applaud to each of your accounts.

  And I do hope PFM returns, or gets out of the pokey, or whatever. Rob is pretty lenient here, which is appreciated (he does NOT get enough applauds!), but one has to consider the source of some of the dunderheadedness that is printed herein. Saying that, I have left a couple forums of different kinds (because of meanspirited posters being allowed to go way overboard) in protest over the lack of a certain minimal amount of control.

 I'm laughing at myself this morning: I usually come to the forum as a lurker, and only login if I want to post; if one is not logged in, Larasdad's posting looks like this: "To pjdd, etc. here's what you're looking for ..."
and that is all that appears onscreen.
  I thought he was saying "I won Talisman", so I decided to login, and that's when the whole message appeared, but, having just arisen, it took me about 90 seconds to notice the BIG, RED arrow. Good post, Larasdad.
  Folks, don't worry about karma or no karma: I was a member for over a year before I noticed the karma icon, then wondered how I managed to the -2. Just logon and post, and keep your kool. I'd rather read a poster's true thoughts or feelings on a particular subject, than get an edited version because of the poster's fear of insulting someone that may have a wrong take on whatever is being discussed. O&U.
