BEWARE SPEEDING TICKETS IN TRENT HILLS!

  According to a local news article, the default speed limit on all roads outside of the 3 main towns of TH, is 50 kph! WTH?? Local politicians  are saying "less wear & tear on roads", "it's not really safe to drive faster anyway", "now we can patrol the roads for defects to a lower standard". etc! Does the word "Dumbass" have a familiar ring to it? It's funny, but I haven't read of untold deadly vehicular accidents due to some unknown reason, or bad road design, or bad driving, or "make up your own ridiculous reason". They don't seem to understand wear & tear is related to load and tire contact surface, and not speed (unless combined with bad vehicle condition), but the less patrolling is going to do wonders for the longevity of the road surfaces. NOT!

  I will be avoiding the roads, and therefore the businesses, of Trent Hills like the plague. It seems that TH has officially been a "town" since 1997/8, and the default provincial laws apply.

  Apply this! Can you imagine travelling from Cobourg, or Brighton, to Marmora, at 50kph? That's almost a 40% reduction in road speed, with the attendant increase in trip time. (Quick mental math says 35 minutes will become about an hour).

Now I understand why all the locals are trying to exchange cars like in the pictures in exchange for property.   

Of course forward thinking people on the board like this person  have the perfect vehicle to avoid this problem.

 Wouldn't mind trying that Shelby for a bit, sideways. From now on, it looks to be a 1-cylinder, 1-flat vehicle. Gotta watch out: had a Cadi once with 32 valve Northstar; between Sonya & Little Britain, with the radio set to 1950s rock'n'roll, I garnered two tickets within 11 days of each other, both of them with foot down, and hands beating time on the steering wheel, and both of them right at the ton mark, and both reduced because of haulin er down and pullin over just as soon as the lights lit up.

I thought an environmentally friendly guy like you would have gone for the the charger.  After all it qualifies as green friendly being painted (lime) green.  

What I am really interested is how the cops will catch PFM's new sailboat for speeding.  It can go 100 kilometers per hour.  Unlike stupid guys like me who stay local and have to wait forever for half loads to be lifted to get some work done he is obviously down in the sunny south.

Some municipalities have taken to this game of downgrading the rating on many of their roads....seems that these secondary roads don't have to meet the higher maintenance standards of municipal roadways AND only have to be plowed after 6 inches of snow have fallen...saves them lots of cash...Port Hope has pulled this move too up around the Ganaraska...the lower speed limits are an annoying side effect.

No game... This is a combination of two Provincial Acts.  The Highway Traffic Act, and The Municipal Act.
