Hello everyone

I have just discovered this site.  I am looking to get a few acres of land to provide a sanctuary for rescued animals.  I live in east gwillimbury ontario and was wondering if anyone knew of such land that might be available, or how I would go about looking - I guess I should say looking further as the lands described by townships are lot and plans and a person would have to be at the registry office all the time to figure out really where these are, what size and such, no? I figure I need to know how the land is zoned, and would assume that I would need agricultural?  This is a strange way to go about this, but I need to start somewhere and I noticed that there are some extremely knowledgeable persons on this forum.  Any input would be appreciated as I am doing this from scratch.  Thank you very much.

You will need agricultural or rural zoning . It will vary by township, Additionally you will have to consider "minimum separation" calculations

If you are a registered charity you may be able to approach towns and look at pieces that didn't sell in the last year. If you are not a registered charity , go get registered , with 81,600 in Canada, one more wont hurt...

thank you very much for your reply.  Currently dogs and cats with an expectation to expand later on.  I am not a registered charity yet, but that was my intention.  I am going to read the training manual regarding the MDS Formulae.  Who knew.  Again, I am not off to a better start than last week. I cannot thank you enough.  Do you have interest in animals/environment as well?

I would think that PMFs interest in animals is limited to how they taste (LOL, I'm probably wrong but I couldnt resist. yes I know he hates when hunters wastefully kill animals, but really, who doesnt)
I originally got into tax sales to find land for a hobby farm/ecovillage/animal sanctuary, but after years of tax sales I have won no properties that would be suitable for this use. Though there have been a few (very few) properties that may have been suitable that I didnt win.  That means either its highly unlikey to find this or Im due.
