Off Topic - Property Investment of a different type - Do you have a mistress?

In addition to tax sales I do other types of "real estate" investing including what I will call underground real estate; ie Mining company stocks especially precious metals; gold and silver. What is interesting if you study the market you will find there are very few pure silver plays as most of it is produced as a byproduct of other metals production.

Having a 5000 year mistress called "silver" has been exciting to put it mildly in the last six months especially if you rented her company some time ago. (Like all mistresses you never own them but you can lease their company for a while)  A couple of sample charts.

Like many of small group of early holders we don't know how long this party will go on and many of us have pulled somewhat back (after we did okay).  We also know that mistresses can be jealous and fickle and change their minds on a whim and head down just as quickly as they headed up.  

Needless to say a lot of the really good values have gone up in price but there are still a few awaiting to get full value.  For those of you who want to walk on the wild side there is an interesting play on the Canadian election.  A company called Canadian Zinc, Symbol (CZN) has everything set to go but needs regulatory approval.  Its minesite is close to the Nahanni park and that is why it is not in production.

So if you find Tax Sales boring and want to get some excitement you can allways get a mistress. It is probably best though that you get the approval of the significant other because while it is exciting never forget it can be risky.  For the last six months mine has approved; for the future who knows.  ;D
