Does that explain why you quit flying and went into farming.  I know I am making some assumptions here.    How did we ever get so far off-topic.

I quit flying since I had to work in Europe to make any coin, To fly in Canada was a huge pay cut so I got out after 5 years in Europe and Asia   as I wanted to actually be home more then 2 weeks out of 8. .... By the way , 2008 Aircanada starting wage per Collective agreement  37,300 CDN.. 42,400 year two then rate varies on AC type from 50 to 80K in year 3

Nothing big is going on?  Everybody's so quiet on upcoming Muskoka Lakes' tax sale - are you holding your breath there not to wake up anybody?

I've got farmer friends, and I've got flying friends.  The flyers do much better.

Muskoka lakes:  two land-locked parcels; one shack on a small lot in Bala (zoned commercial) but not good for it; one very steep, small lot, on a busy road, that goes down to a bit of a swamp on a river that varies in water level, on a busy road; and, lastly - one nice cottage that will never make it to sale, and if it does you'd better have plenty of loose change on hand.

Couldn't find a pilot that wasn't into himself and didn't want a farmer who was always outstanding in his field 

Married a Mennonite instead who's family fights over two copper pennies   Have to come up with my own coin for these tax sales.

As for the lot in Bala, it didn't look too steep but then there was a bit of snow when I saw it.  Your right about the water level though.  Probably why it was never developed in the first place.

I didn't attend but bid on another (Fauquier Strickland) and have posted summary results elsewhere.

Interesting enough 2nd in a row that I came in second.  Any one have any experience with the number of times first bidder walks.  (assume no fundamental problems with the site)

Looks like the well heeled guys even coming to Northern Ontario.

That is why I can't go into the high priced areas like Muskoka or even Hamilton even though I originally came from Hamilton.   My ancestors used to work in the North End.  Maybe they should have had better contacts with some of the more affluent locals.  Possibly one from Railside Drive.

However if you were 11900 , you were right in the pack, There is nothing you can do about someone coming in "high". I guess it is a p*ss off coming in second twice but still better then winning by a huge margin as then you have overpaid.

If this is for business..you will lose a pile before you win..if you win them all it means you are overpayiny.

Then again if you really want a piece for use , not just for investment, Sometime you might want to toss a few extra at it. If you are building a cottage on a piece of land, who cares if you pay an extra 5 K as that is a drop in the bucket.  If you keep a piece of land 20 years, does it really matter if you paid 11k or 18..not at all especially if you are tossing 100 or 200K into a small cottage

If anyone is interested 1132 Risto appears to have sold for 56700 on july 28th. Doesnt show anything else so Im presuming that is the auction result and took a few months for the paperwork.

This info is confusing. The tax sale went 56,700, but I don't think it's 1132 Risto. I just spoke with the Town. They are pretty sure that's a vacant land not the one with the house on it, which is 1132 Risto.

They are both registered as 1132 risto , the land was severed  years ago and the address wasnt taken off. Have to use the assessment number to split them up
