Potential major land use change around Toronto

Rob:
I don't how to post a PDF map but I will post the reference from the Toronto Star.
If you or one of the technically skillful members of the board can post it I am sure there is going to be
a lot of interest as it potentially affects most of the members on this board.

The PDF map is buried in the URL but you have to look for it.
Bottom line is that they are proposing to double the size of the Oak Ridges Morraine
environmental greenbelt area. For some counties like in Northumberland the impact
is huge. When I showed it to two of the affected townships this week it was like
throwing a hand grenade into the office as none of the locals was aware of it.
As they say we live in interesting times.

Good posting Dave. The Greenbelt Alliance is a working committee for the Ontario Greenbelt that is shooting for the stars but won't hit the moon. The proposals they have for expanding the Greenbelt are very aggressive, however they are in direct conflict with many of the Regional growth scenario's that are currently in the works (ie. Durham, Simcoe, etc.). Without a doubt, some lands will be included in the Greenbelt expansion, but not to the extent shown in the map.

Good news for some. I cringe when I see the subdivisions that were put up on the moraine that got approval and then McGuinty "promised" to stop back in 2003.

I'm all for development, but there's plenty of land out there outside of the greenbelt that could be developed.
What's the point in compromising the environment over a bunch of 40' lots anyways? That kind of density just can't be good for the environment, greenbelt or not.
Just my opinion.

Here is the actual link:

I can include it as a attachment as well if needed. But copying and pasting that link should get you to the right locatiob.
