Wife would kill me if I bought anything anywhere near Welland!
Quite a few houses in the 70-90k range and most of them don't even look like they're worth that much based on their condition.
Always interesting to see the results though.. someone please post!

The one Welland property went for an outrageous price of $111,111 which is very high, considering the amount of water damage (about an inch of water throughout) and mold, a complete gut, and the other property went for about $30,000 hope this helps, there were about 27-30 bidding on the first property quite a big turn out. The water damage, I didn't see first hand, it was the talk in the room.
Cheers Andrew

As someone who grew up in Welland, I must agree, that is absolutely outrageous for that property. I guess someone must have gotten caught up in all the excitement.

That is insane, the NICE houses on that street were trading at 170 to 180 I believe, MLS listing around corner is only 179 ASK
Wife wanted to bid but only if we could come in under 60, I laughed and said someone will pay 110 or 120 and blow their brains out so don't even bother...at least people are predictable
Other one at 30 seems like a good deal ..so a "well bought" goes to that bidder
guess someone must have gotten caught up in all the excitement.
I don't understand how this happens, we have weeks to do research, this isn't like an auction where you can get caught up in the frenzy and the ego kicks in

yeah, Welland was interesting(17 caithness st). i placed my bid just under 60k and still thought that i had "overpaid" becouse the amount of work to be done there is just hard to imagine. i personaly took a look inside - the mold was acctually more like fully grown mushrooms already, garage is full of crap + crack just below the roof(roof itself needs total replacement as well), and much more. I suppose it was unoccupied since 2003 after the owner died, or even earlier. I am very surprized about the selling price.
off topic a little bit: when i got to the welland property the grass around showed that there were a lot of people looking at it before. Today i went to another property - same story, looks like dozens of people were there just before me. So tell me who went there from this site? You know which property I am talking about )))

What I don't understand about caithness..The houses on that street are very nice and extremely well kept
Now this sh*thole sits empty and the neighbours are too lazy to cut the grass out front. It would take a whole ten minutes , once a month and you would not have to stare at a sh*thole
Alz2015 as per the 60 bid , I figure you were right on the money with a bid like that but would still only make money if you did the demo labour

demolition - no, my plan was to fix it up, total renovation: new floors,,roof, drywall, kitchen, paint, fresh electricity cables .. you name it. I have my family to work with and lots of spare time. so for that renovation - almost no contractors which cuts down the cost to almost half.

Sorry..By demo I meant ripping out everything Not knocking it down..., As a knockdown it was worthless as it will cost more to build a house then you can sell it for completed
If you can demo, dry and then mold spray the house yourself you will save a ton. put the drywall up yourself then hire pro tapers and painters to finish it up..

yeah, I can do everything with my family, not the roof though... that is why i love the idea to buy the house cheap and then fix it and sell
