I am trying to gather information on Oshawa Properties.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

The 2 properties just off Olive are a total write off. One of them I went inside and the water damage was unbelievable. The main floor felt like you were going to fall through. The ceiling above was soaked and falling in. (I did not dare go upstairs for the fear of falling through). The amount of junk and mould was crazy. Both out these are defiantly not livable. You would have to tear them down. The one with the shingled siding (that looks like red brick) you may be able to salvage some of the interior structure, but it looks like it has major structural issues.

The first two have had the power and water off which cause a lot of problems in them selves.

The third property has someone living in it. Good luck with the eviction, and old man chased me back into my car, when I got out to take a better look.

Hi, I am new to this and wondering how you were able to go inside these first 2 places? Are you able to just show up and walk in or do you have to arrange something with someone?

This is not like buying a house, You have no legal right to be on the property. You are trespassing if you go on the land and you are breaking and entering if you enter the building. 

On clearly abandoned buildings  no one will say anything but you better be sure the building is abandoned or you could end  having to get new teeth or meeting the owners "not so friendly" puppy 

If there is a building on the land , I will not step on the land unless  it is clearly abandoned IE broken windows, hydro physically disconnected  etc  and even then I dont like it and am very careful.   never ever enter a building under any circumstances

If the owners still live in the house, they are either A : in bad shape and definitely dont like us vultures circling. or B: Dickheads who feel they are making a statement by not paying taxes. these are the same dickheads who would sick a dog on you  or worse and think its funny .. ..  Mind you if you do enter the house..they should sick a dog on you

Remember it is our fault their house is being taken ..not theirs.

All that I remember is a poor old man sitting quietly in a broken van (not in the house) parked on the property trying to calm his raging big dog while watching foreigners come and go on his property. It's just sad. It doesn't make sense why those construction companies developing new houses right behind this property wouldn't buy/bail this poor old man out. I was wondering whether this poor man could ever survive if he lost this probably the only place he and his dog had been calling home.

Lovely sad story..the "poor old man" sitting there was an ex local cop who probably had a gun or two in the house...

Has anybody figured out the personal circumstances for the resident in the house across from the Oshawa Town Center? My research has come up with two different names at that address. I have not seen the owner. I am assuming an elderly widow. It does look like someone is still living there and maintaining the property good.

The house that has a city notice on it for "Not Locking The Premises", is the one I peaked in. If you want an idea of how bad it is inside, you need not even step on the property. You can stand on thew sidewalk and look through the living room window and see the moulding, rotting drywall hanging from the ceiling. (write-off)

As for the other house that looks like it is red brick. I just want to give a friendly heads up that someone is living in there. There has been no power or water to the property for over 2 years, and there use to be aluminum siding on the house. He ripped it off to sell it as scrap metal. He was given the house 4 years ago from his dead father. Has obviously not maintained it, and by the sound of things has been stripping the house and trying to get what ever $$$ he can from it. He is an old man in his mid 50's with a thick gray beard named Bill (affectionately called biker Bill by the police) as he rides a bicycle. There has been no issues at this site for over a year, but prior to that there was crack being sold from this location. The fire department was called to the house last winter as the neighbours were complaining that he was starting fires in the house to keep warm.

Good luck evicting this nut.

Ah thanks for the updates guys, great info!  The responses were pretty much what I was thinking. 

Its kinda funny that you said they use to sell crack out of that red house as I have been referring to it as the 'crack house' when describing it to a few friends.  I think the young coked up girl on that corner offering her services to me when I drove by was a little bit of a tell on that one!

And to think you guys think welland is going down hill. At least we hose down our street people at the end of each month and the only crack you will find is on a plumber.

Hey Frank... The info I got about the "Bill" reference was from a cop friend. He knows the guy and what he has been up to for the last couple of years. Some of the "regulars" on the street get nick names from the cops. His is Biker Bill  . I have not personally seen him.

I haven't bothered to do a Lien search on any of the properties, cause I will not be bidding. I live in Ajax, that is why I was interested in these properties. I think 2 are not worth the bother, the other one will go for a high price that I am not willing to pay.

I was hoping to pick up something close to home that I could rent out.

Thanks for the updates, with all of the problems Oshawa is having I would suggest that anyone looking at buying these properties look into the power of sale route with their RE agent.  Just post your offers low, really low and see what happens, there are a whole bunch of POS out that way.

Some of these backstories never cease to amaze, guy living in his house for 2 YEARS without heat or hydro??? selling of his house siding for scrap metal, man, that is the defination of being hard up for cash.

Because of were the property is I would have to disagree with your assumption she was on coke, probely crack or meth or ice or a mixture of all three, cocaine is a little high end for the "shaw"
