Township maps of ontario - old but useful

I'm not sure what most people use to locate properties listed by lot and consession, I found a neat site that has many of Ontario's township's mapped out from 1874-1881. It shows lots and consessions, structures, the acerage of the lots, road allowances etc. It also lists the name of the land owner (again 1874 -1881), which is little more than historically significant at this point.
For those who don't have a way to access this information without driving to the township office, this may help. Yes they are old, but still very useful.

If for some reason the link dosen't work Google "Canada County Digital Atlas".

Thanks those older types of maps are extremely useful when researching a property and you want to get a better understanding of the area and its history. Many original lots are exactly the same now as they were in the 1870s, especially in south west ontario and eastern ontario.

Aye, very cool. I wish it went further north, though
By the way, an easy way to shift around the very large maps, zooming in and out frequently, is to use the open-source program Gimp. That`s what I use for the ridculously large pics/maps I want to study. Use + and - to zoom in and out respectively and hold middle mouse button to scroll around.
