provincial land tax act. Tax sale exempt

I see in the gazette(Dec 7/13) that the crown is in the process of taking a large number of properties (50 ish), that are to be lost for non payment of taxes. These appear to be exempt of our tax sales.
Can anybody explain?

That's a new one on me but the lands are not in municipalities and therefore not subject to the tax sale process of the municipal act
Provincial land tax is a property tax on land located in the unincorporated territory of Ontario which does not have municipal representation. The tax helps to support the local share of a number of services in these areas.
Land in the unincorporated territory is now assessed using the Current Value Assessment method which has been used in the rest of the province since 1998. Increases in assessment resulting from reassessment are phased in over a four-year period to give property owners greater stability and predictability. Assessment decreases take effect immediately
.
I guess since 87% of the land in Ontario is crown land, the province just absorbs it back into the land bank or if has any value they sell it private thereby keeping the profits ( they simply take us vultures out of the picture)

Some of these properties appear to be standard municipal properties

Think we briefly discussed this in October. I don't believe there are any tax sales for lands in Unorganized Townships or Territories. A notice of tax arrears certificate will be registered against the property if the taxes remain unpaid however the property will subsequently be forfeited instead of proceeding to tax sale.
Try contacting the Provincial Land Tax (PLT) division in Thunder Bay.1-866-400-2122. They oversee all PLT matters province wide. They might be able to answer any questions that you have.....or they might just talk in circles.
