Subdividing

Does anyone have experience with this? I'm just curious in general, I don't own any property that would be worth subdividing at the moment but I would like to keep it in mind when thinking about very large properties.

All that I know about it so far is that most municipalities these days have a minimum subdivision size of 200' wide per lot and I think perhaps a minimum overall size per lot.

Does anyone have any further insight on this? Also has anyone gone through this process before?
