Do any of the hydro companies qualify as as crown corp?

I have heard of a situation where an individual's lawyer did all the relevant searches on the day of sale, came up with nothing and yet the day of a sale the hydro company was  still able to file a lien and hold the new owner responsible ?
 

Don't sound fair to me

Personally I think any liens placed on the day of sale should be null if the sale is completed, but otherwise up to the day before should be fine and as they say "buyer beware"
