Anytime I've allowed hunting on my property, they've usually brought around a nice bottle, or a hunk of venison at Christmas to show their gratitude.

I know I already have a reputation as being slightly?? crazy on this board for bidding on property's in Moonbeam etc.  But before all you guys lynch me take a look at some of the hunting lease rates PER SEASON just south of Ontario in New York State and Vermont.

South of the border this is big business.  If you take the lease rate and divide it by typical northern Ontario land purchase price.  Hmmm I wonder. 

I have nothing against Welland but I think I will stick to premises a little further out.  As I have said before different strokes for different folks.  Maybe the locals who purchase moose pasture in Marmora for what we think are high prices are not so stupid after all.

The big problem here is that we have massive poaching , why would anyone pay 3k a year when they can walk on and do as they want and noone will do squat

I have some land posted, they just tear it down and blow the sh*t out of everything, and they could care less about seasons

additionally Canada has huge amounts of crown land which is free for the taking. I believe 89% of the land in Canada  is crown, 87 % of Ontario is crown ( which really pisses me off that people still poach on private, I guess 87% of the land isnt enough for the inbred rednecks)

In the US only 28% of the land is federal and it is not evenly spread

Where federal land is located, by region:
West: 54.1% South Central: 2.4%
Alaska & Hawaii: 38.8% South Atlantic & DC: 1.7%
North Central: 2.8% Northeast: 0.2%

So essentially if you want to hunt anywhere other then California ,Oregon Alaska and Hawaii you are on private land

It's true that ontario and Canada has alot of crown land, but in the south ontario we have the same problem, I think very little amount of land in this region is not owned by private, if it's not private that'w usually operated park, or protected land by government.

To go to north to find the crown land is also not easy, I don't know any place where you can easily have access to crown land. If the land is crown, then there is no road, if there is a road usually all the land around is private.

I'll appreciate if anyone knows any travelable crown land around, where we can drive and hunt there.

No body pays to hunt in Ontario, they ususally ask a farmer if they can use their land, give him a bottle or offer to take care of their gopher problem.  Regarding crown land, even if you find any good land  best of luck trying to hunt on it.  There are guys that have been hunting the same crown land for 20-30 years, don;t think they will take to well to some new guys just showing up.  Espically after they just "baited" the area with salt licks or apples weeks/days  before the start of the season( this should not be allowed in my opinon)

Don't know about you guys but I would not want to be in the bush surrounded by a bunch of pissed of local hunters.

Funny thing about northen folks is that they hate it when someone from the "city" buys property and puts up no hunting signs, yet, they are almost militant when it comes to people trespassing or hunting on their land.

This is so true from personal experience. Sort of like "your land is my land and my land is my land".
